The Daniel Burkett '06 Memorial Scholarship was established in honor of Danny Burkett '06, who had an impact on many in a special way at the University of San Diego. The scholarship will be eligible to all active members of the Greek community who show academic excellence and are actively involved in community service. These criteria will help define the candidate who best exemplifies the spirit of Danny Burkett.

Danny was truly an amazing person to all who had the chance to know him. He was a passionate and fun-loving individual who was successful in so many aspects of life. Danny graduated Summa Cum Laude with a degree in Business Economics and in 2006 received the award of Academic Excellence in Business Economics. While at USD he was a member of the prestigious Alcala Club, Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economics Honor Society, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, and Delta Tau Delta International Fraternity. His magnetic personality allowed him to touch the lives of many people, and he will no doubt be a tremendous source of inspiration for all who knew him.

Danny gave so much of his time and energy to USD and the Greek Community while he was here. Your support will help keep his light shining within the USD community, and perpetuate his legacy of hard work, community involvement, and academic success.

Michelle Wintersteen ’15

Michelle Wintersteen is majoring in Visual Communications with a minor in Art History. She is involved in Greek Life through the sorority Gamma Phi Beta. In addition, she is active in Campus Connections, the Preceptorial Assistant Program and intramural volleyball on campus. Michelle hopes to pursue a career in Interior Design in her family’s company, Savvy Interiors. She said, “I would like to personally thank you for your donation to the Danny Burkett Scholarship. This scholarship inspires me to make a difference on our changemaker campus in memory of Danny’s legacy."
